How Lilium Care Reduces Canada’s 30-Week Wait Time Through UX Design

Lilium Care’s patient and provider prototypes are intentionally designed to demonstrate how the platform can transform Canada’s long and growing wait times—currently a median of 30 weeks—into a much shorter, more predictable care pathway. The UX highlights how smart triage, real-time availability, and simplified coordination work together to remove the bottlenecks that traditionally delay access to care.

On the patient side, the mobile app provides a frictionless experience: patients complete an AI-guided symptom check that immediately determines urgency and suggests the appropriate provider type. Instead of waiting weeks for a referral or navigating phone queues, patients see who is available now, today, or this week through real-time schedules. Booking takes seconds, not hours, and integrated record sharing ensures providers receive the relevant context ahead of the visit—reducing administrative overhead and enabling faster decision-making.

On the provider side, the web portal centralizes tools that are normally scattered across multiple systems. Providers can review incoming triage requests with structured summaries, accept or redirect appointments instantly, and adjust availability on demand. This reduces triage backlog, keeps schedules optimized, and opens new same-day appointment opportunities. The system’s audit logs and credentialing tools ensure secure, compliant workflows while reducing time spent on paperwork.

Together, these UX flows demonstrate the core promise of the MVP: a shorter path from “I need help” to “I have an appointment.” By removing unnecessary steps, automating triage insights, and bridging communication between patients and providers, Lilium Care shows how a 30-week wait time can be reduced to days—or even hours—simply by redesigning the workflow around speed, clarity, and coordination.
